Mid-ish October

One thing I do not remember from last October in Emmaus was the amazing proliferation of scarecrows. I believe there must be some civic-minded contest or some such going on, as I did see many signs along the main street saying "Say Yes to Scarecrows!" in the weeks at the end of the summer. Well, they are everywhere and in all kinds of outfits. I am not a person who is stridently anti-Halloween, as are some people I know, but it is a little creepy to see so many. Of course they are not the traditional farming culture clad scarecrows one grew up with but more like...well, scarecrows at a costume party. I haven't decided yet if I think this is idiotic or clever.

This last week was quite stressful as early in the week the company that I work for was going to merge with first another, then the next day that was reversed and a different merger was announced. What it boils down to is that I don't care who buys the company as long as I still have a job.

Have been working on maintaining a positive attitude about that and in general, despite being heartsore about recent romantic disappointments (to understate it wildly). I am hoping this weekend to scrape together enough pennies to go see the new Russell Crowe movie, "Body of Lies."
